The Premier League clubs are looking for solution after the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday night. The Gunners' game against Brighton this weekend is now officially postponed. In the early hours of Friday, Chelsea announced their players are self-isolating after Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive. According to the Guardian, it is expected the season to be suspended for several weeks. In addition, they didn’t rule out the possibility of the whole season being voided. However, eight matches from the Premier League should be played this weekend, including the game at the Etihad.
Manchester City will be looking to return to the victories when they welcome Burnley. The Citizens are comfortably sitting on the second position. The first place is far away - 25 points separates them from the league leaders Liverpool. Keeping the second position is their primary target. Man City are four points ahead of third-placed Leicester, so this match is very important for the hosts. Last weekend Pep Guardiola's men suffered the seventh defeat this season. They lost 2:0 in the derby against Manchester United. Previously they won the Carabao Cup after beating Aston Vila at Wembley. Guardiola has most of his players available for this match, including Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte. They have returned to training having missed out the Manchester derby last weekend. Their presence is a huge boost as Guardiola has found it difficult without them. Sergio Aguero, who picked up a thigh injury against United, should recover in time for this match. If not, Guardiola could start with Gabriel Jesus. Riyad Mahrez, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and David Silva are looking for a place in the starting eleven. Leroy Sane continues his recovery from a knee operation.
Burnley have 39 points and sit in the middle of the table, twelve points away of the drop zone. The Clarets are now safe and they could even try to secure some European spot. The actual form is excellent, Burnley have no defeat on the last seven league matches. They managed to beat Leicester City, Manchester United, Southampton and Bournemouth, while shared the points with Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham in the last round. The Clarets will try to continue their unbeaten series, but it will be very difficult to upset the Citizens at the Etihad. Nevertheless, the players confidence is high and this fact should not be underestimated. Chris Wood is in good form, he has scored 11 goals so far in the Premier League, his best-ever top-flight campaign. Wood is only the third Burnley player to score more than 10 times in a Premier League campaign. Manager Sean Dyche has some injury issues, as Jay Rodriguez is out due to a twisted knee, while Matthew Lowton and Johann Berg Gudmundsson remain sidelined. Forward Ashley Barnes is making good progress in his recovery, though this match comes too soon for him.
Manchester City vs Burnley Prediction:
I expect both teams to score at the Etihad. Manchester City play at home and they are strong favorites. In addition, I expect some reaction after the last weekend's defeat at Old Trafford. Burnley, meanwhile, are in excellent form. They have four victories and three draws in the last seven rounds, so the players confidence is high. I believe they are able to score here.
