Europe League : Glascow Rangers - Leipzig
After losing the first leg in Germany by a 1-0 scoreline, Rangers are far from dead in this semi-final and will be able to count on the boiling cauldron of the Ibrox Stadium to reverse the trend. On the domestic front, things are going very well for the Scots, who are in second place in the league behind arch-rivals Celtic. In fact, last Sunday, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw. In addition, Glasgow will have the opportunity to lift a trophy on 21 May against Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.
The Rangers squad has a few absentees, including Romanian Ianis Hagi (son of the legendary Gheorghe Hagi). The latter has been injured since mid-January and his return will not be rushed by the medical staff. He is not the only one to be sidelined as Swedish defender Filip Helander is also out, as is Alfredo Morelos (17 goals and 8 assists in all competitions). The unfortunate Nnamdi Ofoborh is out of the squad due to heart problems. The Jamaican Kemar Roofe (16 goals - 1 assist in all competitions), who was not in the group for 3 games for personal reasons, should make his return.
RB Leipzig will have three new players in their squad compared to the first match. They are the French central defender Simakan, the Hungarian international Orban, as well as the midfielder Kampl, all three suspended in the first leg (yellow cards). Only the Senegalese Amadou Haidara (4 goals) is very uncertain (injured). Christopher Nkunku is having a lethal season with 30 goals and 14 assists this season in all competitions. He is one of the revelations in Europe this season.
Leipzig have been strong on the road this season and have lost just one of their last 20 games in all competitions. Eager to win their first European trophy.
