REASON FOR BETTING TIPS
A cheeky tweet from the official Dover Athletic compared the rise of Leicester City to that of Dover. They pointed out that when Leicester won their league in 2009 and 2014, on both occasions Dover were promoted. So the question is after Leicester's historic Premier League title win, will the sequence continue?
The tie is already been described as the biggest in the White's 33 year history and the part timers know that the rewards will only get bigger if they are able to conquer the league's runners up. The last meeting between the two ended in a 1-0 victory for Forest Green just days ago after both managers decided to make several changes to their line ups.
Despite being on course for their best ever finish, Forest Green parted company with their manager Ady Pennock. Rovers were second in the league and were guaranteed a playoff place but after going seven games without a victory chairman Dale Vince took the shock decision to make the change. Entrusted with the role to lead Rovers to Wembley is the club's Head of Youth Scott Bartlett.
With both clubs fighting for the opportunity to get into the Football League for the first time in their history neither side is in particularly inspiring form. With Dover conceding on average almost a goal a game and Forest Green having scored in every single away game this season you can get a Forest Green win with both teams scoring at 11/2 with Betfair. My concern is that playoffs are typically tight affairs and there isn't much on paper to seperate the two teams, so I would perhaps play it safe and go with there being 2-3 total goals.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two met was on the last day of the season where Forest Green Rovers took the three points, so the head to head between these two sides perhaps holds a bit more significance than normal. In the last four meetings Rovers are undefeated, they have claimed two wins and two draws but perhaps even more significant is the fact that Dover have only managed to score once in that time.
STATS
Forest Green ended the season with the third best defence in the league and the second best away record. They also scored in every single away match in the regular season. Meanwhile Dover concede an average 0.96 goals per match at home and have only failed to score in 22% of their league fixtures.
TEAM NEWS
Dover boss Chris Kinnear rested the vast majority of his part time squad in the last fixture and he is expected to bring the majority straight back into the match day squad. Richard Orlu has served his suspension so is once again available for selection and is expected to slot straight back into defence.
Caretaker manager Scott Bartlett takes charge of his second match and after making several changes to his side in the last fixture he will have to decide whether to continue with youngster John Stokes who shone in his debut. Rovers will also hope key players Dale Bennett and Rob Sinclair will be fit enough to return to the squad and he will also have trio Clovis Kamdjo, Louis McGrory and Delano Sam-Yorke available for selection after their loan spells elsewhere came to an end.
