REASON FOR BETTING TIPS
Both teams looked to have cancelled each other out in the first leg as they struggled to find space in the key areas, but in the 93rd minute Adebayo Akinfenwa cut the ball back towards Tom Beere, who had two bites of the cherry after his first shot was blocked. The second shot wasn't blocked though, and flew into the bottom corner to give Wimbledon a vital lead to hang on to.
This was a bitter pill to swallow for Accrington Stanley, who missed out on automatic promotion to League One on the final day of the regular season. All they needed to do was win against Stevenage, but a goalless draw wasn't enough as Bristol Rovers and Oxford United both enjoyed final day wins to send them above Accrington Stanley. Oxford United finished the season a point above Accrington Stanley in 2nd, while Bristol Rovers outdid them on goal difference alone.
Now Accrington Stanley face a deficit that they must overturn to make it to a playoff final against Plymouth Argyle, and it could be difficult given Wimbledon's excellent form at the minute. The visitors have only lost one of their last nine matches in League Two and have won seven of those. Away from home they are unbeaten in four matches, and they are also on a four match unbeaten run against Accrington Stanley.
The hosts defeat on Saturday ended their 12 match unbeaten run in League Two, and at home they are struggling to win matches despite proving difficult to beat. They have drawn four and won three of the seven matches they have played since their last defeat at home.
Wimbledon are likely to set up defensively from the outset, and that's something they can do well. They have an excellent defensive record on the road this season and come into the game in good form. Accrington will be downtrodden after missing out on promotion on the final day and losing to a last minute goal in the first leg. They will feel that this is just not their year.
I think Wimbledon will be able to frustrate the hosts on Wednesday and keep their unbeaten streak against Accrington Stanley in tact, Wimbledon Win or Draw Double Chance look good to me. I'm going to back a 1-1 correct score prediction as well.
HEAD TO HEAD
Wimbledon are unbeaten against Accrington Stanley in their last four meetings, with the Dons having won three of those four games.
STATS
Wimbledon have only lost 22% of their away games this season, whilst Accrington Stanley have only won 48% of their home fixtures.
TEAM NEWS
The defensive Matt Crooks is still expected to be out for Accrington Stanley.
Defender John Meades is still suffering from an injury ahead of this crucial match, but Wimbledon are hoping that Connor Smith can make a return from a minor neck injury.
